CSE Chatterbox awarded contract for communications system at 22 Bishopsgate

22 Bishopsgate, building London

CSE Chatterbox has been awarded the contract  to supply a state-of-the-art integrated cellular and two-way radio communications system at 22 Bishopsgate, one of the tallest new buildings to join the City of London skyline, by JLL acting on behalf of the landlords.

At over 278 metres (912 feet), the 22 Bishopsgate building will comprise 62 floors set aside for office space, gyms, restaurants and the highest viewing gallery in Europe. Once complete it will have the capacity to accommodate up to 12,000 people.

The size, location and layout of the building posed some interesting challenges when designing the communication system. Following detailed discussions with JLL and site visits before and during construction CSE Chatterbox was able to propose a solution using the latest advancements in two-way radio and push to talk over cellular (PoC) mobile phone and Wi-fi technology to provide reliable communications for security and facilities management throughout the site, with additional health and safety features including:

  • Emergency alerting
  • Indoor and outdoor location monitoring
  • Monitoring of vulnerable personnel working in high risk areas.

Increasingly, CSE Chatterbox is working with forward thinking clients like JLL in the initial stages of new build and regeneration projects to ensure the necessary infrastructure is planned and in place to support the communication systems essential to the smooth and safe running of the finished development. In addition to delivering communication and health and safety  benefits, CSE Chatterbox systems can integrate with building management and alarm systems etc. to streamline building management.

Work on the communications system for 22 Bishopsgate is already underway, and when complete CSE Chatterbox will be responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of the system.
